"Eunie" McMullen, 92, of Tremont passed away at 10:50 a.m. Monday, July 25, 2011, at Greater Peoria Specialty Hospital in Peoria. She was born Dec. 7, 1918, in Tremont to William and Ida Bolliger Unsicker. She married George A. McMullen on Nov. 23, 1940, in Tremont, and he passed away June 24, 2010. Surviving are one son, Neil McMullen of Peoria; two daughters, Jane (Paul) Richmond of Mackinaw and Marilee (Russell) Chapman of Phoenix, Ariz.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Sylvan (Helen) Unsicker of East Peoria; and three sisters, Edith Albright of Peoria, Lorraine Frederick and Marilyn (Keith) Toepfer, both of Tremont. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Kathleen Ann; one granddaughter, Theresa; one sister, Dorothy Pflederer; and seven brothers, Alvin, Henry, Clarence, Elmer, Vernon, Bill and Ben. She graduated from Illinois State Normal University. Eunie retired from teaching in 1979 after 22 1/2 years at Leslie Country School and Tremont Elementary School. She was a life member of Illinois and Tazewell County Retired Teachers Association; a member and past president of Alpha Tau Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa honorary sorority for women educators; and a member of Tremont United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the administrative council, the choir and its United Methodist Women. She was a life and charter member of the Tremont Museum and Historical Society. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
