LAMOURE -- Hulda Elfreida Klein, 87, LaMoure, died Jan. 25, 2002, in a LaMoure care center. Services were held Jan. 29 at Zoar Lutheran Church, LaMoure, with the Rev. John Estrem officiating. Burial was in Rosehill Cemetery, LaMoure.
Pallbearers were all of Hulda's grandchildren. Jan Hird was organist, Marcia Young was pianist and Darlene Olson was soloist.
Hulda Elfreida Satreaas, the daughter of Elling and Larsine (Vadstein) Satreaas, was born Nov. 14, 1914, on the family farm northeast of LaMoure, where she grew up. She attended school in Gladstone Township. She was baptized and confirmed at High Prairie Lutheran Church near LaMoure.
Hulda graduated from LaMoure High School, and attended Capital Commercial College in Bismarck. She spent one year working in aircraft and shipyards during World War II. Hulda held positions at the ASC office in LaMoure and the FHA office in Ellendale.
She also worked for Froedert Grain and Malting Co. and the grain exchange in Minneapolis.
Hulda was united in marriage to Albert Klein on Nov. 19, 1950, at High Prairie Lutheran Church near LaMoure. The couple continued to farm in the area until their retirement. She entered the St. Rose Care Center in LaMoure in November 2001.
Hulda was a very active member of the Zoar Lutheran Church in LaMoure. She was proud of her Norwegian heritage and was a strong supporter of teaching the ways of Norway in the area. In 1978, Hulda and Albert were able to return to Norway and visit the homeland and many relatives. She was able to speak and write Norwegian, and translated many letters for people over the years.
Hulda enjoyed spending time with family, and her greatest love was all of her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Albert, LaMoure; three sons, Bruce (Crystal) and Gary (Sheila), both of LaMoure, and Dr. Dale (Debbie), Mandan; four sisters, Ann Busche and Ruby Klima, both of LaMoure, Margrit Bjerkrem, Great Falls, Mont., and Hardis Kupfer, Bismarck; eight grandchildren, Elling Klein, Kristy Klein, Jeremy Klein, Blake Klein, Casey Klein, Reece Klein, Nicole Klein and Eric Klein; and four great-grandchildren, Lexie Jo Klein, Bryce Hample, Brett Hample and Weston Klein.
Hulda was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Art. (Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Oakes)
