VIRGINIA B. (RADZISZEWSKI) REISS
Obituary Condolences
(Radziszewski) Reiss September 10, 2004 Virginia B. (Radziszewski) Reiss, 85, of 501 Willis Ave., Syracuse, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, September 10, 2004. Virginia was the daughter of Konstanty Radziszewski and Helen Caroline (Radziwon) Radziszewski, who passedaway September 10, 1962. Her parents emigrated to America in 1905 from Bransk, Poland. Virginia was born in Syracuse on May 24, 1919 and had been a member of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus all her life. Virginia graduated from Cathedral Academy in 1937. She married Edward H. Reiss on July 8, 1940 at Sacred Heart Church. In her early years, she worked in the home of Dr. and Mrs. F. Geiger of Dewitt St., Syracuse. For most of her career, Virginia was a banquet waitress for Hotel Syracuse and a member of the Hotel Workers and Service Employees Union. During the 1950's and 60's she was featured in many stage productions in various groups around Syracuse. They included the S.T.A.G.E. Players, Syracuse Little Theatre, Community Theater of Syracuse and the State Fair Theater Company. Virginia was a member of the Symfonia Choral Society of Sacred Heart Church and Sacred Heart Church Choir. She is predeceased by her husband, Edward H. Reiss on April 12, 1999 and six brothers, Frank, Stanley, Edwin, Phillip, Joseph and Edward; two sisters, Victoria and Helen. Surviving: son, Paul D. Reiss and friend Janice Peterson; daughters, Sharon A. Meddley of Hampton, VA and Margot T.(Richard) Cole of Hannible; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; 27 nieces and nephews. Services: Monday 8:30 a.m. Hollis Funeral Home, 1105 W. Genesee St., Syracuse and 9:30 a.m. at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Calling Hours: Sunday 2 to 5 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
