Elsie Lacher
Elsie A. Lacher, 95, Miles City, Mont., formerly of Richardton, passed away Oct. 27, 2007, at Holy Rosary Health Center, Miles City. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Friday, Nov. 2, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Richardton. Rite of Committal will follow in the family lot of St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Richardton.
Visitation will be held Tuesday at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home, Miles City, where vigil services will be held at 7 p.m. MDT. Visitation begin at 3 p.m. MDT Thursday at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson, with a rosary at 7 p.m. MDT.
Elsie was born north of Hebron Oct. 25, 1912, to John and Magdalena Yunik Ostaj. She married Joe Lacher Oct. 2, 1933. They made their home south of Richardton where they farmed. In the early 1960s, she went to work as a nurse aide at St. Luke's Nursing Home, in Dickinson, and later worked at Richardton Memorial Hospital and Sacred Heart Monastery, in Richardton. For the past 17 years, she had resided in Miles City with her daughter and son-in-law, Betty Lou and Verlyn Berger. She was a 70-year member of Christian Mothers, member of Catholic Daughters and member of American Legion Auxiliary. On a daily basis, Elsie recited the rosary and the rosary never left her.
Elsie is survived by a daughter, Betty Lou Berger and her husband, Verlyn, Miles City; her son, Howard Lacher and his wife, Carole, Bismarck; her daughters-in-law, Gladys, Richardton, and Yvonne, Rocklin, Calif.; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, in 1961; a daughter, Teresa; two sons, Gordon and Lester; a grandson, Darel; a great-granddaughter, Jenna Lee; her parents; two sisters; and six brothers.
