  [S927] Obituary. Kathie A. Naab-Conwell, 62, of Lima Ohio, formerly of Rock Island, died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2010 at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima, Ohio. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 26 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rock Island. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Rock Island. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kathie A. Naab Memorial Scholarship Fund in care of Shawnee High School, 3333 Zurmehly Rd., Lima, OH 45806. Kathie was born on Aug. 4, 1948, in Rock Island to Joseph P. and Alice (Corken) Naab. She married Hugh J. "Huey" Conwell on Jan. 2, 2004. Kathie retired from Shawnee High School in Lima, Ohio in 2009 after 23 years as an English teacher. She also taught at Alleman High School for 11 years. While at Shawnee High School, she was the faculty recipient of the "Make Shawnee the Best It Can Be" award. She touched the lives of numerous students throughout her teaching career and was an inspiration to them. She will be sadly missed by the entire Shawnee School Community. Mrs. Naab-Conwell will be remembered as a friend to many and a teacher to thousands. Kathie was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing bridge and Mah Jongg. She is survived by her husband; brothers Joe P. (Margie) Naab, Wash., Richard "Dick" (Mimi) Naab, Washington, D.C.; nephews Joe Naab and John Naab; nieces Chris Englin, Laura Myhre, Amy Cushman, Tracy Ubarri and Racheal Kouar; and her beloved cat and dog Mulligan and Gracie.
