Rosalyn L. Young
ST. JOSEPH - Rosalyn L. Young, 95, of St. Joseph passed away Friday, May 14, 2010, at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph.

Rosalyn was born Dec. 31, 1914, in Anderson, Ind., to William and Emma (Leetge) Ickes. On Oct. 10, 1927, she married Mike Young in Benton Harbor. Mike and Rosalyn began Young's Appliance in 1940, and were the founders of Mike Young Surplus. They were in business for more than 50 years. Rosalyn was a savvy businesswoman who loved golf and traveling. She was an avid reader and puzzler. After retiring in 1982, Rosalyn and her husband traveled extensively and enjoyed spending their winters at their home in Naples, Fla.
Rosalyn is survived by her daughter, Roxanne Kaatz - Ben Jersic of St. Joseph; granddaughter, Abbie Jacobson - David Forthey of Chicago; brother, Richard Ickes of St. Joseph; and many nieces and nephews.
Rosalyn was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Young, in 1992; her parents; a sister, Phyllis; and brothers, Earl and Robert.
We will always be grateful for the gifts of abundant patience, generosity and compassion that she shared with all she knew.
