Eileen A. Ellenbecker Lawrence
Mass of Christian burial for Eileen A. ?Babe? Ellenbecker, 90, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Aug. 20 at St. Gregory?s Catholic Church in Marysville. Burial will follow at St. Gregory?s Catholic Cemetery in Marysville.
Mrs. Ellenbecker died Tuesday, July 19, 2011, of heart failure in Lawrence.
She was born Sept. 18, 1920, in Bremen, the daughter of Jerome Brychta and Catherine Greiveldinger Brychta.
Mrs. Ellenbecker attended country schools near Bremen, Hanover High School and Kansas City Teachers College.
She was a teacher from 1939 to 1945, and was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, baking and gardening and was an avid Kansas University fan.
She married Leo Ellenbecker on June 5, 1946, in Hanover. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Ellenbecker is survived by three sons, Joe Ellenbecker, Lawrence, Mike Ellenbecker, Eagan, Minn., and Phil Ellenbecker, Joplin, Mo.; five daughters, Sandra File and Robyn Ice, both of Lawrence, Celeste Pierce, Overland Park, Mary Kay Scanlon, Lenexa, and Denice Guthrie, Fredonia; and 18 grandchildren.
The family will greet friends one hour before the service.
The family suggests memorials contributions be sent to the Douglas County Visiting Nurses, Rehabilitation and Hospice Care or St. Gregory?s School in Marysville.
