Josephine J. Renkes, 93 of Beaver, formerly of Pittsburgh, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at Good Samaritan Hospice at Heritage Valley, Beaver, with her family by her side.
Born December 10, 1921, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Rose Barbarita and had been a resident of Beaver the past 20 years. An active member of Saints Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church, Beaver, she had also belonged to the Marion Guild of her church.
Preceding her in death, besides her parents, was her husband, John J. Renkes, in 1989; two sons, John J. Renkes Jr., in 2007, and James J. Renkes, in 1995; a sister, Philomena Booher, and two brothers, Emilio and Richard Barbarita.
Surviving are her devoted daughter, Cecilia (Richard) Roland, with whom she resided; a daughter-in-law, Sandra Renkes, Florida; two sisters Mary Ann Lombard, Florida, and Gloria (Fred) Zinobile, Kentucky; eight cherished grandchildren, Erin (Vince) Palmiero, Mark, Staci and Stephanie Roland, Elizabeth (Nathan) Brown, Kristen and Karin Renkes, and Katherine Renkes; a great-grandson, Vincent Palmiero, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the NOLL FUNERAL HOME INC., 333 Third St., Beaver. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. in Saints Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church by her pastor and longtime friend, Father Robert Miller.
