Issue: Woodsfield, Ohio, March 1978
Collection of Beryl Christman Claus
On the ?Day of Rest? March 5, 1978, the book of life of a beloved husband, father and grandfather, Marf Henry Hettig, was closed. Quietly his spirit passed away leaving him in sleep, to wait the resurrection morn. We weep not, as those who have no hope. We rejoice that he was spared to travel with us these many years. Marf Henry Hettig was the youngest of seven children of Henry and Eva Matz Hettig. He was born July 5, 1904, near Lewisville. He attended Bracken United Methodist Church.
In 1934, he was united in marriage with Edith Morris. To this union was born seven children, three sons and four daughters. He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife, Edith and children, Mrs. Carolyn Pittman of Doylestown, Mrs. Linda Larrick of Cumberland, Mrs. Donna Packard of Burbank, John Hettig of Woodsfield, Paul and Mary of the home. Also six grandchildren and a sister Carolyn Nuzum of Woodsfield. One child, Bryron Dale died in infancy.
Funeral services were held March 8, at 1:00 in the Gardner Funeral Home at Woodsfield, with the Reverend Donald Glass of Cambridge, officiating. Burial was in Bracken Ridge Cemetery.
At Sunset
Do you know the hour when the sun Goes down is a beautiful time of day?
When your task is done and the shadows Fall and your worries are laid away?
Well, it?s just as true that the close of life
Can a beautiful sunset be,
Every task well done, let the shadows fall There?s no fear of eternity.
