    HENRY V. METTLER Henry V. Mettler was born June 4, 1890 in Odessa Township to Valentine Mettler and Anna Marie Mettler. His father, Valentine, passed away October 30, 1911 and his mother on November 1, 1940. Mr. and Mrs. Henry V. Mettler and family Henry V. Mettler lived on a farm northeast of Eureka all of his life. He married Albina Kusler on March 27, 1914 at Eureka by Rev. G. J. Zenk. Albina was a school teacher at the time. Four children were born to them: Rueben, married to Anna Opp; Otto, married to Erma Smidt; and Edmund, married to Kathryn Heiser. Lillian was born November 7, 1925 and passed away November 21, 1925. Henry and Albina retired and moved to Eureka in 1947.

    REUBEN AND ANNA METTLER The Reuben Mettlers Reuben Mettler was born in McPherson County on January 16, 1915 to Henry and Albina Kusler Mettler. He went to country school northeast of Eureka. He was married to Anna Opp, daughter of Fred and Lydia Hoff Opp, on September 12, 1937. They were married by Rev. Kruger in the Reformed Church northeast of Eureka. Reuben was on the schoolboard and church board. They lived on a farm northeast of Eureka. Three children were born to them: Phyllis Ann, married to Lee Lutz and works at the Eureka State Bank; Larry was married to Hazel Rath and he lives on the homestead farm; and Bruce is married to Joyce Vetch, and works for Production Credit and lives in Mobridge. Reuben and Anna bought a home in Eureka and moved in the year of 1979.

    LARRY METTLER Larry and Michael Mettler Larry Mettler was born September 4, 1943 to Reuben and Anna Mettler of Eureka, South Dakota. He was educated at Eureka High School and is presently farming. His father, Reuben, was born January 16, 1915, and his mother, Ann, was born August 9, 1917. They were both born in Eureka. Larry has one sister, Phyllis (Mrs. Leland) Lutz, and one brother, Bruce Mettler. Larry was married to Hazel Rath on June 24, 1973, and is currently divorced. Larry has one son, Micheal, born July 17, 1975. Larry and his son live on the farm near Eureka. They are affiliated with the Eureka Reformed Church.

    EDMUND AND KATHERYN METTLER Edmund Mettler, son of Henry and Albina Kusler Mettler, was born at Eureka, June 28, 1922. He grew up on the family farm 19 miles northeast of Eureka. He attended school in the Petersburg School District. Edmund has two brothers: Rueben of Eureka and Otto of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Edmund married Katheryn Heiser, February 2, 1947. They farmed on the family farm after Edmund's parents retired and moved to Eureka in the fall of 1947. Edmund Mettler family Katheryn Heiser was born July 26, 1926 to John and Margaretha Weller Heiser. She grew up on the farm and attended the Holzworth School nine miles south of Artas. She has two brothers: Arthur of Courtland, California who is deceased and Walter of Parkers Prairie, Minnesota; eleven sisters: Mrs. Robert (Ottilia) Horst, Selby, South Dakota who is deceased; Mrs. Gottlieb (Edna) Schaeffer, Eureka; Mrs. Rueben (Alma) Heinrich, Ipswich, South Dakota; Mrs. John (Martha) Wiedmeier, Rapid City, South Dakota; Mrs. Philip (Amanda) Mayer, Sacramento, California who is deceased; Mrs. Albert (Hilda) Stadel, Aberdeen, South Dakota; Mrs. Edwin (Anna) Bitz, Aberdeen, South Dakota; Mrs. Emil (Mathilda) Schaeffer, Herreid, South Dakota; Mrs. Harold (Ella) Bader, Appleton, Minnesota; Mrs. Marvin (Irene) Knapp, Rapid City, South Dakota; and Mrs. Merle (Elsie) Mettler, Rapid City, South Dakota. Edmund and Katheryn are the parents of two sons, Myron and Ronald. Myron is married to Pamela Fried and they live on the family farm. Myron is employed at the Ashley Co-op and also farms. They have four children: Scott, Jeanne, Sheri and Sara. Ronald lives at Lawranceville, Georgia. He is carpenter and a dry waller and owns his own business. The Mettlers still farm and are members of the Eureka Reformed Church.

    Edmund married Katheryn Christina Heiser on 2 Feb 1947. Katheryn (daughter of John J.
