Gottlieb and Olivia Ottenbacher and family

Gottlieb was born February 24, 1915 to William and Christina (Heiser)
Ottenbacher of Eureka. William was born April 7, 1887 and came to the Eureka
area at the age of two with his parents from Hoffnungstal, South Russia.
Christine was born December 5, 1892 in Campbell County and died April 1, 1966.
William died January 15, 1959. In addition to Gottlieb, their children were
Otto, Walter (deceased), William, Adolph, Oscar, Alvin, Helen Mettler and
Milbert (deceased).

Olivia was born August 17, 1918 to Philip and Mary Opp. Philip was born
September 20, 1892 near Eureka and died October 11, 1940. Mary was born January
6, 1898 at Hosmer and died March 30, 1985. Olivia's brothers and sisters are
Viola Kurle, Irene (deceased), Lavina Aman, Alton and Elmer Opp.

Gottlieb and Olivia were married July 23, 1944 at Zion Lutheran Church in
Eureka. They lived on Olivia's family farm where they grew small grain crops
and raised livestock. They attended Hoffnungstal Lutheran Church where Gottlieb
was treasurer for several years. In November, 1968, they sold their farm and
moved to Eureka where they presently reside.

Gottlieb enjoys gardening and houseplants while Olivia assists in gardening and
enjoys reading and letter writing.

Eleven children were born to the couple, eight of whom are living, three sons
having died in infancy.

Milton was born September 2, 1944 and married Wanda Bauer of Bowdle on August
1, 1969. They have two children, Kari and Tim, and reside in Aberdeen where they
are both teachers in the Aberdeen public schools. Milt is past president of the
Aberdeen Education Association and is presently chairman of the teachers
negotiation committee.

Viala was born July 30, 1948. She and her son, Camron, are living in Rapid City
where Viala is employed as a hair stylist at the Swing and Set Beauty Salon.

Carol was born March 22, 1950. On August 28, 1976 she married James Brandner of
Leola. They have two children, Renae and Eric. They live in Aberdeen where Carol
is a substitute teacher and Jim is manager of Hub City Feed and Seed Elevator.

Lorraine was born April 7, 1951. She married John Reule of Sacramento on June
24, 1972. They have one daughter, Joleen. They are presently living in Rapid
City where Lorraine is employed at the Swing and Set Beauty Salon and John is
the owner of J.R's Handyman Service.

Gary Gottlieb, born August 28, 1952, is living in Aberdeen where he is employed
as a mechanic at the K-Mart Automotive department.

Joyce was born August 15, 1954. On September 27, 1980 she married Richard
Holtry of Hot Springs, South Dakota. They have one daughter, Elizabeth, and
reside in Sioux Falls where Joyce is employed as a child care provider and her
husband is the priest in charge of St. David's Anglican Catholic Church and is
assistant manager of the Plainsco plumbing department.

Arlene, born February 26, 1957, married David Buechler of Aberdeen on July 26,
1980. They have one daughter, Amanda, and reside in Aberdeen where she is
employed at the city auditor's office as an accounting clerk/bookkeeper. Dave
is an assistant supervisor in the production department of the Aberdeen
American News.

June was born February 11, 1958 and married Lester Merkel of Ashley on August
29, 1981. They live in Eureka. June is a medical technologist/laboratory
supervisor at the Bowdle Hospital and Les owns Les' Standard Parts and Repair
in Eureka.

Gottlieb married Olivia Violet Opp on 23 Jul 1944 in Eureka, McPherson County, South Dakota, USA. Olivia (daughter of Philip G. Opp and Mary Job) was born on 17 Aug 1918 in South Dakota, USA; died on 27 Jun 1988 in Eureka, McPherson County, South Dakota, USA. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

OTTO AND RAMONA OTTENBACHER

Otto, son of William and Christina (Heiser) Ottenbacher was born February 1,
1917 in Campbell County where he attended school. William, born April 17, 1887
in Zippricke, South Russia, came to this area as a two year old and died
January 1, 1959. Christina was born December 5, 1892 in Campbell County and
died April 1, 1966.

Ramona, the daughter of Ruben and Emma (Knoepfle) Diede was born June 28, 1930
at Greenway, South Dakota where she also attended grade school. Ruben was born
in McPherson County July 27, 1901 and is living at the Good Samaritan Home at
Herreid. Emma was born February 3, 1902 at Artas, South Dakota and died July 8,
1981.

Otto and Ramona were married October 10, 1954 and are living in Eureka. Ramona
is working at the local hospital as a nurses assistant and Otto is disabled.
They are members of Zion Lutheran Church. They are the parents of two sons.
Raymond was born August 12, 1957 and married Carol Kost, May 22, 1982. Elmer
was born May 12, 1965.

Walter and Leona Ottenbacher

Walter Ottenbacher, born November 21, 1918 in Campbell County, South Dakota,
was the son of William and Christina (Heiser) Ottenbacher, both now deceased.
Their family included sister Helen (Mrs. Robert) Mettler and brothers,
Gottlieb, Otto, Adolph and Oscar of Eureka, South Dakota, and William, Jr. and
Alvin of Aberdeen, South Dakota and Milbert (deceased).

Walter completed an eighth grade education and was engaged in farming.

On October 22, 1944 Walter married Leona Schumacher, born December 30, 1922 in
Campbell County, to Jacob M. and Matilda (Pfeifle) Schumacher. Jacob was born
November 17, 1894 in Russia and died July 26, 1974. Matilda was born May 10,
1899. Leona's family included Adeline

(Mrs. Christ) Binder, born November 8, 1917, Gertie (Mrs. Ed) Rueb, born April
6, 1920, Victor Schumacher, born November 4, 1924, Evangeline Clark, born April
22, 1926, Paul, born November 13, 1928, Lawrence, born August 29, 1932, Eileen
(Geinger), born September 15, 1930, Robert R. Schumacher, Mildred Kluckman,
born June 28, 1934, and Ray, born September 26, 1936.

On September 22, 1984 Leona married Fred Scheuffele of Long Lake, South Dakota.
They are living at Eureka, South Dakota where Leona is employed as a nurses aid
at the Eureka Community Hospital.

Walter and Leona had eight children: Larry, Wayne, Sharleen, Dennis, Paulette,
Nancy, Clyde and Jeffrey.

Larry and his wife, Leah, live in Miller, South Dakota where he is a state
trooper. He has two boys, Jerome and Dale, a stepdaughter Tammy and stepson,
Britt.

Wayne and his wife, Carol, live in Long Lake, South Dakota where Wayne works as
a plumber. They have two daughters and one son.

Sharleen is married to Jerry Imberi and lives at Eureka, South Dakota. She is a
secretary at N-S Building Supplies and Stanley Hieb Trucking. They have two
daughters, Michelle and Amanda.

Dennis is married to Marty Anderson and resides in Aberdeen, South Dakota where
he works at K. O. Lee Company. Marty runs a day-care center. They have two boys,
Duane and Dustin.

Paulette Adam lives in Brookings, South Dakota and works for the alumni center.
She has one daughter, Bobbie Jo.

Nancy Johnson lives in Brookings, South Dakota and is manager of the Taxi
Department. She has two daughters, Billie Jo and Julie Marie.

Clyde is the meat cutter at the Eureka Red Owl, is married to Roberta Bachman
and has one daughter, Teri Jo. Roberta works at Northwest G. F. Mutual Insurance
Company.

Jeffrey lives in Eureka and works for Beautician Supplies out of Sioux Falls,
South Dakota.

Oscar Verner, born February 26, 1926, was one of nine living children born to
William and Christine (Heiser) Ottenbacher. William was born April 17, 1886;
Christine's birthdate was December 5, 1892. Oscar attended Hoff's Country
School and Eureka High School. He has lived on a farm all his life.

Oscar married Ruth Stugelmeyer March 28, 1948. Ruth was born at Ashley, North
Dakota on July 23, 1928 to Jacob and Agnes (Teske) Stugelmeyer. Jacob was born
February 28, 1893 and died February 5, 1973. Agnes was born December 10, 1892
at Long Lake. They lived in the Ashley area until they moved to Eureka in 1938.
Ruth attended Eureka grade and high school. She worked in the drug store for
many years in addition to being a homemaker.

Oscar and Ruth are presently farming seven miles west, one mile south of
Eureka. They are members of Zion Lutheran Church and are the parents of two
children, James and Sheila.

James was born June 10, 1948 and was married to Linda Pfeiffer of Eureka on
September 20, 1970. They live in Eureka and have one daughter, Paula Lynn, born
September 11, 1974.

Sheila was born March 16, 1959 and married Monte Anderson of Redfield on
October 8, 1983. They live in Spokane, Washington.

Wayne Ottenbacher was born December 1, 1947 at Eureka to Walter and Leona
Ottenbacher. He was a 1966 graduate of Leola High School. Wayne served in the
U. S. Air Force and began working for Schumacher Plumbing in Long Lake, South
Dakota in 1968, where he is presently employed.

Wayne married Carol Jones in 1975. They have three children, Jeanne Ellen, born
November 24, 1976, Carla Ann, born June 30, 1980, and Timothy Walter, born July
