    FRED AND KATHERINA DOERR

    Fred Doerr was born January 9, 1891, on a farm northeast of Eureka where he
    grew to young manhood. His parents were Rudolph Doerr and Rosina (Koerner)
    Doerr. Fred Doerr married Katherina Job on December 22, 1914. The young couple
    established their home on a farm 16 miles northeast of Eureka until moving into
    town in 1954. A family of three children was born to the Doerrs, two sons and
    one daughter, they are:

    Julius Doerr, married Erna (Schmitt) Doerr, Aberdeen, South Dakota.

    Hilda (Mrs. Reinhold Mettler), married (Reinhold Mettler (deceased April 28,
    1983)) Upham, North Dakota.

    Katherina and Fred Doerr

    Raymond Doerr, married Velma (Burrer) Doerr, Lodi, California.

    Fred Doerr passed away in 1958. Katherina is residing at Lakeview Apartments in
    Eureka, South Dakota. They have five living grandchildren, one deceased, and
    five great grandchildren.

    JACOB AND KATHERINA DOERR

    Jacob and Katherina Doerr

    Jacob Doerr was born in McPherson County on March 18, 1896 to Rudolph and
    Carolina (nee Koerner) Doerr. He married Katherina Burrer on January 30, 1917.
    She was born July 2, 1897 on the Burrer homestead to Christian and Elizabeth
    (nee Albrecht) Burrer. Jacob died in April 1957 and Katherina died in May 1980.

    Jacob and Katherina had nine children.

    Loretta is married to August Bender and lives in Bismarck, North Dakota. They
    have one son.

    Oscar lives in Santa Maria, California.

    Willie is married to Viola Kurle and lives in Minot, North Dakota. They have
    one daughter.

    Irene is married to Walter Schlekau. They live in Nipomo, California.

    Frances is married to Floyd Kallenberger and lives in Huron, South Dakota. They
    have two children.

    Alice is married to Harvey Kurle and lives in Eureka. They have three daughters.

    Bernice is married to Ulane Franklund and lives near Wilton, North Dakota. They
    have three children.

    Delores is married to Alvin Thurn and lives near Venturia, North Dakota. They
    have two children.

    Esther died at the age of four years.

    Jacob and Katherina lived fifteen miles northeast of Eureka where they farmed
    and raised their family. After Jacob's death, Katherina moved the farm house
    into Eureka and lived there until 1974 when she became a resident of the Wishek
    Retirement Home in Wishek, North Dakota.

    JULIUS AND ERNA DOERR

    Julius Doerr was born 15 miles northeast of Eureka to Fred and Katherina (Job)
    Doerr. His grandparents were Rudolph and Carolyn (Koerner) Doerr who had
    immigrated to the United States from Kassel, South Russia, and Ludwig and Rosina
    (Kranzler) Job who had immigrated from Neudorf Russia. On September 19, 1967,
    Julius' mother married Jacob Wolff. Julius has one sister, Hilda (Mrs.
    Reinhold) Mettler at Upham, North Dakota, and one brother, Raymond, Lodi,
    California.

    Julius and Erna Doerr

    On June 15, 1941, Julius married Erna Schmitt, daughter of Edward and Rosina
    (Weisz) Schmitt. Erna was born and raised three miles west of Long Lake, South
    Dakota. Her grandparents were Johann and Friedricha (Lammle) Schmitt who
    immigrated to the United States from Gluckstal, South Russia and Philiph and
    Carolina (Schumacher) Weisz who immigrated from Bergdorf, South Russia. Erna
    has one brother, Floyd, who is presently living on the farm homesteaded by her
    grandparents in 1892.

    The first years of farming saw no electricity or running water or oil heat, but
    as time went on, they enjoyed these conveniences. Julius and Erna rented a farm
    18 miles east of Eureka. Their first car was a Model A Ford.

    In 1951 they purchased a farm 18 miles east and 2 1/2 miles north of Eureka.
    Like everyone else, they had their share of ups and downs, but what stands out
    in Erna's mind is the ice storm of December, 1966. The power and telephone
    lines snapped, it was impossible to travel and they were without power for
    eight days. The only heat was a three-burner kerosene stove. In March of 1966,
    there was a three-day blizzard where many farmers lost much livestock. This was
    the worst storm in their lifetime.

    Julius and Erna farmed 34 years. In 1975 they sold their farm and moved to
    Aberdeen in 1976. They are members of the Good Shepherd Church. Erna worked two
    years for Mohr Fencing and presently works part-time at Tru-Fit assembling
    trophies.

    Julius and Erna have two children, Dianna and Duane. Dianna, born in 1942, is a
    beautician employed at Adoraccion Coiffures.

    Duane, married to Virginia Opp, was born in 1944. He is employed at Old Home
    Bread, and Virginia teaches second grade at Tiffany. They live in Aberdeen and
    have two children, Kirsten and Ryan.
