I saw a post on Genealogy.com about signing up for the email listing for the
Cummins/Cummings family. I would like to do so. The post was kind of fuzzy
as to whether this email here would be directly sent to other people on the
list or if this email would just be the starting block for adding me to the
list. In either case, here is some information about my family:

I have Cummins/Cummings ancestors but I have found very little info about
them from before 1920.

My grandfather's name is Floyd Cummings (still living). He is from Mineral
Point, Adams Twp., Cambria Co., PA. He was the oldest of 4 siblings: two
brothers, Harold (deceased) and Calvin (living), and a sister, Donna
(deceased).

Floyd's father's birth name was Edward Blythaway Cummins, but he (or the
family) changed it to Cummings sometime between 1920 and 1930. Edward was
born about 1894 in PA. Edward married Ida Viola Fyock in 1920. Edward was
a coal miner who lost his life due to a coal mine accident when he was about
50 years old. He had at least 3 brothers and 1 sister. He was from Adams
Twp., Cambria Co., PA.

Edward's father was named John L. Cummins (he was listed as a Cummings in
the 1930 census). John was born in Ireland around 1866. John immigrated to
the US in 1881. John married Isabella Wishart in 1885. (Isabella was born
in Scotland around 1864.) After Isabella's death (between 1920 and 1930),
John went to live with his son, Edward. Like his son after him, John was
also coal miner.

Edward married Ida Viola Fyock about 1921 in Pennsylvania, USA. Ida (daughter of George G. Fyock and Ella C. Berkey) was born on 3 Apr 1902 in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania, USA; died on 3 Dec 1974 in South Fork, Cambria County, Pennsylvania, USA. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
