ERVIN E. AND LEONORA MARTEL Ervin E. and Leonora Martel Ervin E. Martel was born October 22, 1920 to Albert P. and Paulina (Preszler) Martel of Eureka. He had one brother, Stanley, deceased. His father was born December 23, 1898 and died July 30, 1980. His mother, Paulina, was born July 8, 1900 and is presently retired in Eureka. On May 23, 1943, Ervin married Leonora Dammel, daughter of Jacob and Eva (Kirschenmann) Dammel, of Eureka. Leonora was born November 15, 1921, and had six brothers and sisters, Martha Hoffman, Ramona Olson, Sam, Leo, Milton and Ed Dammel. Her father, Jacob, was born March 15, 1887 in Russia and died July 1, 1934. Her mother, Eva, was born July 8, 1892 in Hosmer. Eva is currently retired. Ervin and Leonora have two children, Gloria and Bonnie. Gloria was born September 22, 1944 and married Harley Ulmer. They had six children, LaDonna, LaNette, Rodney, Ross and Russell (triplets) and Leta. Russell died October 4, 1964. Harley died on January 2, 1973. Gloria married Mervin Mullner on December 10, 1976. They farm near Frederick, South Dakota. Bonnie was born October 1, 1954. On August 16, 1974, she married Tim Serr of Eureka. They have one son, Timothy Robert, Jr. Tim owns and operates an auto body shop with his father, and Bonnie is employed at the Eureka Hospital. Ervin and Leonora have two children, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. They are affiliated with the Eureka Reformed Church. Ervin was an elder in the Reformed Church, has been on the rural school board and an F.H.A. director. Leonora is active in the Eureka Reformed Ladies Aid. Ervin and Leonora have been life-long farmers. They are currently living in Eureka.

Ervin married Lenora Dammel on 23 May 1943 in Eureka, McPherson County, South Dakota, USA. Lenora (daughter of Jakob Dammel and Eva Kirschenmann) was born on 15 Nov 1921 in South Dakota, USA; died on 20 Jun 2004 in Eureka, McPherson County, South Dakota, USA; was buried in Eureka Cemetery, McPherson County, South Dakota, USA.
