Paul P. Burkhart, 71, of Barnesville died suddenly
Thursday, Aug. 7, 2003, at his farm near Barnesville.
He was born June 22, 1932, in Barnesville, a son of
Marie Ryan Burkhart and the late Lawrence Burkhart. Paul graduated from Barnesville High School, College
of Steubenville and received his Masters Degree from
West Virginia University. He taught 4th grade in the
Barnesville School System for 39 years. He coached
Junior High basketball, varsity girls basketball, and was
a head girls softball coach at Barnesville for 20 years.
He was a member of the Assumption Catholic Church,
a veteran of the Korean War serving in the Air Force. A
member of the OVAC girls softball committee, Farm
Bureau, Knights of Columbus, Barnesville American
Legion and a 20 year member of the Barnesville E-
Squad. Paul was voted Barnesville's Citizen of the Year
in 1997.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by
a brother, Jerry Burkhart. Surviving in addition to his mother of Barnesville, are
his wife of 40 years, Frances Sulek Burkhart; one son,
Paul (Martina) Burkhart; four daughters, Teresa Harsh-
barger (Eric), Mary Anne (Daniel) Stephens, Angela
(Aaron) Hannahs, and Lisa Burkhart, all of Barnesville;
ten grandchildren, Jesse D'Amico, Bailey Burkhart, Khiara
Tracy-Burkhart, Colin and Alexa Harshbarger, Megan,
Daniel Jr. and Michaela Stephens, Erin Hannahs, and
Samantha Burkhart. Friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9
p.m. at the Kelly-Kemp-Bradio Funeral Home, 702 East
Main Street in Barnesville. Mass of Christian Burial, Monday,
10 a.m. at Assumption Catholic Church in Barnesville, with
Father Virgil Reischman officiating. Burial in Assumption
Cemetery, Barnesville, with full military graveside services
by Belmont County Council American Legion. Wake service
Sunday 8:30 p.m., and Knights of Columbus service 9 p.m.

Scholarship Fund c/o Wesbanco Barnesville.
