CLARE LOUISE KRAUS Mrs. Clare Louise Kraus, 79, of 812 Springlake Drive, died of natural causes at 10:00 p.m. Friday (February 15, 2002) in her home.Born July 29, 1922 in Quincy, Clare was the daughter of Louis and Clara Bauhaus Zwick. She married Carroll J. Kraus on December 27, 1944 in St. Francis Church in Quincy. He died May 27, 1998. They had celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary December 27, 1995.Clare was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and was a graduate of Quincy Notre Dame and Gem City Business College. She was a member of the Quincy Elks Lodge #100, Womens' City Club, and a former member of the Quincy Racquet Club and Springlake Country Club. She also enjoyed playing cards with her bridge club for over fifty years. A source of love and enjoyment in Clare's life was her grandchildren and her twin great grandsons. She and her husband Carroll founded the Kraus Construction Company in 1959 of which she was the secretary and bookkeeper for over thirty years until their retirement.Surviving are two sons, William L. Kraus and his wife Carol of Jonesboro, AR. and Terry J. Kraus and his wife Mary Jane of Phoenix AZ; a daughter Katherine G. Ritter and her husband Kenneth of Deerfield, IL.; 10 grandchildren, William L. Kraus Jr. and his wife Heather of Mobile, AL., Carroll J. Kraus, Matthew B. Kraus, Michael J. Kraus, and Elizabeth C. Kraus, all of Jonesboro, AR., Benjamin J. Kraus and Ryan P. Kraus, both of Chicago, IL., Aaron L. Ritter, Elliott W. Ritter, and Samuel A. Ritter, all of Deerfield, IL., twin great grandsons, Wilson and Lee Kraus of Mobile, AL., and one sister, Elizabeth Ann Cox of Quincy.Clare was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a grandson, Terry J. Kraus II.Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 9:30 in Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home and at 10:00 in St. Peter Catholic Church by the Rev. Roy Bauer. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and a wake service will be held 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Peter Catholic Church or to Blessing Hospice.
