Helen D. Beaumont, nee Plogmann, 92, of Swansea, IL, passed away Friday, May 9, 2014, at Freeburg Care Center, Freeburg, IL.
A lifelong resident of the area, she was born November 11, 1921, in Belleville, to Joseph and Mathilda, nee Ehrstein, Plogmann. She married Vernon Beaumont on February 13, 1947, at St. Henry Catholic Church, Belleville, IL.
Helen was devoted to her family and friends. She was a member of St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church, Belleville, IL. She also loved gardening, traveling, dancing, cooking, crafts, playing cards, and family gatherings with her sisters, nieces, and nephews.
When she was 16, she left school to work at Weil-Kalter Company, a rayon factory in Millstadt. She was also employed welding bomb casings at Empire Stove in Belleville during World War II. And she would do anything for her family. Once, when Vernon was idled by a strike action against Swift & Co., she took in laundry to provide Christmas presents for the family.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; and her sisters, Irma Huber, Dorothy Schaefer, and Eleanor Hahn.
Surviving are her husband of 67 years, Vernon R. Beaumont;
two sons, Gary L. (Martha) Beaumont of Champaign, IL,
and Dennis J. (Linell) Beaumont of Libertyville, IL;
one daughter, Gail L. (Merv) Avants of Tampa, FL;
five grandchildren, Will and Alex Beaumont,
Brian and Michael Avants, and Lauren Yates;
a great-granddaughter, Vivienne Rose Beaumont;
and a sister, Babe Audette of Woburn, MA.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 17, 2014, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, with Msgr. William McGhee officiating. Burial will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
