CARL F. HOFFELDER, 91, of Ashley, died on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012, at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne. Born June 6, 1920, he was the son of John A. and Catherine (Brug) Hoffelder. He was born in and lived his entire life in the same house. He was a lifelong DeKalb County farmer. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church of Waterloo and the Indiana Maple Syrup Producers Association. He married Phyllis Marie Kempf on May 18, 1946, in Auburn; she died Oct. 18, 2003. He is survived by four sons, Thomas (Lynn) Hoffelder of Tolland, Conn., John (Sandy) Hoffelder of Corunna, Daniel (Peggy) Hoffelder of Waterloo, and Michael (Diane) Hoffelder of New Alexandria, Pa.; two daughters, Margaret (Phillip) English of Fort Wayne and Patricia (John) Fallis of Hagerstown; 17 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Marcella Compton of Hudson and Catherine Sebert of Auburn. He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Jeffrey Hoffelder; and two sisters, Beatrice Hoffelder and Rosemary Ellert. Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Waterloo, with Father David Carkenord officiating. Burial in St Michael's Catholic Cemetery. Calling is from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, at Feller & Clark Funeral Home, Waterloo, with Rosary recited at 8 p.m. Preferred memorials for Masses to the church.
