ASHLEY-PHYLLIS MARIE HOFFELDER, 79, of rural Ashley, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003, at her residence. On April 10, 1924, in Pleasant Lake, she was born to Otis and Marie (Miller) Kempf. She married Carl Hoffelder in Auburn on May 18, 1946. He survives.
She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Waterloo, and graduated from Ashley High School in 1942 and Tri-State University in 1944. She was a homemaker and a farm wife. Surviving, in addition to her husband; are two daughters, Margaret English, Fort Wayne, and Patricia Fallis, Greencastle; two sisters, Virginia Garberick, Battle Creek, Mich., and Dortha Reinhart, Butler; 18 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, a brother, Rex Kempf, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Waterloo, with Fr. David Carkenard officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Waterloo. Rosary will be said at 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
