Decea sed Name: Rickhoff, Lela Doerr
RICKHOFF, LELA DOERR,82, fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church and surrounded by her family, Thursday, June 26, 2003; Lela was born to Emil and Emma Roth Doerr on September 22, 1920 in St. Louis, Missouri where she lived her entire life; she married her life partner, Honorable John R. Rickhoff, on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1942; their 61 years together were most blessed with their love for each other and their seven children. Lela's life centered on her husband, seven children and their spouses, her grandchildren, brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews and wonderful life-long friends. Her children thank her for always loving and caring for them: John Jr., Thomas Emmett (Carol), Lynn (Jaspare) Giardina, James Michael, Gerard Christopher, Mary Anne (Charles Buerschinger) and Michael Joseph (Ila Mizrachi). Her grandchildren filled her with love, hope and dreams for their future: Hans, Erika, Franz, Amanda, Fritz, Liesel, Gerard, Stephen and Nicholas Rickhoff and Walter and Elizabeth Giardina and great-granddaughter, Eris Richoff. She is also survived by her loving sisters, Elizabeth Doerr Moye and Emily Doerr Wolf and was pre-deceased by her parents; sister, Isabelle and brothers, Willis, Emmett, Edwin and Lee. The essence of Lela was her love of family and her quick wit. She was careful never to burden others with her trials. Lela's family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to her caregivers who were so devoted throughout her illness. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Mission for the Indigent, c/o Sister Lois Conarchy, Sisters of Loretto, P.O. Box 116, St. Meinrad, Indiana 47577 or to a charity of the donor's choice. 1 Corinthians 13 'Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails...what remains is faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.' Funeral from KUTIS AFFTON Chapel, 10151 Gravois, Mon., June 30, 9:30 a.m. to Cure of Ars Church, for 10:00 a.m. Mass. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation Sunday, 5:00-8:00 p.m.
