Francis D. Haeg
Francis Haeg, 101, formerly of Shakopee, passed away Friday, May 30, 2008.Francis Haeg
He was born in Minneapolis on Aug.28, 1906 to Frank and Elizabeth (McGowan) Haeg. He and Johanna Fischer were married in Minneapolis on Nov. 16, 1932.
His wife, Johanna preceded him in death in 1987.
Mr. Haeg worked for the Minnesota Highway Department for over 40 years. He retired in 1973. He and his wife moved to Jacksonville, Fla. where they lived until Johanna died. He then moved to Shakopee to live with his daughter, Betty Engel, and son-in-law, Bill Engel. While there he enjoyed many fishing trips to nearby lakes. He loved to fish and it didn?t matter what size they were. He preferred a long cane pole rather than the rod and reel most of us use today.
Mr. Haeg will be sadly missed by his seven children, Frank C. Haeg of Santa Rosa, Calif., Betty (Bill) Engel of Shakopee, Marguerite Dean of Coon Rapids, Jerome (Pat) Haeg of Turtle Lake, Wis., Nancy (Harold) Miller of Keokuk, Iowa, James (Dianne) Haeg of Austin, Texas, Steven Haeg of Shakopee; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two nieces; four nephews; many relatives and friends.
Visitation is one hour prior to Mass at the church. Mass of Christian Burial is Friday, June 6, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary?s Catholic Church, 535 South Lewis Street, Shakopee, with the Rev. Mark Wehmann officiating. Pallbearers are Loran Phyle, Scott Phyle, Steve Dean, Todd Miller, Parker Haeg, Richard Haeg, and Mark Krzystofiak. Private family interment at Grand View Park Cemetery on June 7, 2008.
