Ralph Lachenmaier
April 6, 1917 September 27, 2004
Ralph Lachenmaier was born April 6, 1917 and went to his eternal home in
Heaven on September 27, 2004.
While growing up, he lived in Lodi, CA, Shafter, CA and Chicago, IL. Married
Leona Bechthold July 16, 1939. They celebrated their 65th anniversary July 16,
2004. They lived the first year of their lives together in Lodi where Ralph
worked for Lodi Super Mold. In 1940, they moved to Shafter where he owned the
Shafter Recap Tire Shop. After he sold the Tire Shop, he farmed in the Shafter
area, raising cotton and potatoes. In 1972 he became a sales representative
for Primrose Oil Co. of Dallas, Texas, who manufactured custom oils and
lubricants. He retired in 1992.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf and going to Dodgers baseball games.
Starting in his early twenties and for about 12 years Ralph pitched softball
for numerous teams throughout the San Joaquin Valley and Bay Area. His most
memorable game was when he pitched for the Helm Chevrolet Team of Modesto, CA
in the National Softball Tournament in Soldiers Field in Chicago.
Ralph served on the Board of the Bakersfield Rescue Mission for several years
during the time that Lonnie Heath was superintendent. He was a loving, caring,
generous husband, father and grandfather. Ralph loved his Savior Jesus with
all of his heart and spent time reading the Bible from cover to cover many
times in several translations. He was a charter member of Laurelglen Bible
Church and always looked forward to going to church on Sundays to worship God
with other Christians.
He is survived by his wife Leona; daughter Lana Ryan and husband Jim; son
Bruce and wife Janice; grandsons Brent Bergen and wife Janet, and John
Lachenmaier; granddaughter Shana Ashley; great-grandchildren Kristen and
Wesley Bergen and Dylan and Shawn Ashley; his brother William and wife Thelma.
