Gladys Boagni (Pic), 5 Feb 1998 Funeral services for Mrs. Vincent Boagni, the former Gladys Pitre, 92, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Nicky Trahan will conduct the services. Mrs. Boagni, a resident of Opelousas, died at 6 a.m. Wednesday, February 4, 1998, at her residence. She was born February 13, 1905, in rural St. Landry Parish, her parents being Edward and Angeline Lambert Pitre, descendants of pioneer families, some of whom made their home here before the War of the Revolution. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and several other local clubs and organizations. Survivors include: two sons, Vincent (Buddy) Boagni Jr. of Dana Point, Calif., and Christopher (Chris) Dietlein Boagni and his wife Sue Karr Boagni, both of Opelousas; two sisters, Mrs. Hazel P. Jetty of Houston, Texas, and Mrs. Martha P. Dimmick of Opelousas; five grandchildren, Leslie B. Moore of Mission Vejaho, Calif., Christopher (Bo) Boagni Jr. of Austin, Texas, Dr. Scott Boagni of Opelousas, Holly B. Cange and Brett Boagni, both of Baton Rouge; and seven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Boagni was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vincent Boagni; and a daughter, Mrs. Gladys Mae Boagni Waterbury. Visiting hours will be observed from 5 to 10 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. Friday until time of services. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home on the Old Sunset Road in Opelousas is in charge of arrangements.
