Leonard LehmannDr. Leonard P. "Doc" Lehmann, 88, of Fostoria, passed away peacefully Monday, Sept. 1, 2008, surrounded by his family at his son's home.Leonard was born at home April 5, 1920 in Fostoria to the late Haven L. and Irene E. (Seimet) Lehmann. He married Dorothea "Dot" McClure on December 13, 1941, in Hudson, Ohio, and she survives.Also surviving are eight children, James A. Lehmann, Mansfield, Lou Ann (Jon) Brandeberry, Fostoria, Dr. Charles L. (Laura) Lehmann, Las Vegas, Nevada, Thomas M. (Carmen) Lehmann, Valrico, Florida, Carol A. (Christopher) Reinhard, Sandusky, Dr. Douglas S. (Therese) Lehmann, Villa Parks, Illinois, Dr. Steven D. Lehmann, Fostoria, and Richard B. (Rosa) Lehmann, Fostoria; twelve grandchildren; two great grandchildren and two step grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Lou Droll, Fostoria and Patricia (Gerald) Hickey, Mesa, Arizona. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Sandra Brandeberry; and one brother, Alton Lehmann.Leonard was a Chiropractor for 50 years; he began his own practice in 1947 in Fostoria and retired at age 75. He was a 1938 graduate of St. Wendelin High School and a 1946 graduate of Metropolitan College of Chiropractic, Cleveland. Leonard was past Treasurer of the Ohio State Applied Kinesiology Association and was 1973 and 1974 State Chiropractor of the Year. He was a member and past president of Fostoria Lions Club, American Legion, Elks Club, Order of the Eastern Star No. 94, Fostoria Shrine Club, past president and member of Fostoria High Twelve Club #676, and Shepherd Center all of Fostoria. Also, the Ohio State Chiropractor Association, a senior member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Toledo, the Zenobia Temple, Toledo and former member of Garfield Chapter 150. Leonard was also influential in establishing a State Chiropractor Examining Board with Paul Gillmor. Amongst his many achievements, he served in the Navy during WWII; he was a pharmacist mate first class, receiving four invasion stars. He enjoyed golfing, local sports and Cleveland Indians baseball.Visitation will be Thursday, September 4, 2008 from 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. at HOENING FUNERAL HOME 242 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, where a Christian Wake service will be held at 3:45 p.m., and Masonic Services at 6:30 p.m.Mass of Christian Burial is Friday September 5, 2008, 10 a.m. at St. Wendelin Catholic Church.
