Irene M. Kochert, 93, of Lafayette, died at 3:10 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at Rosewalk Commons.
She was born July 13, 1914, the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Snider Kochert. She graduated from St. Boniface School in 1929 and also from Lafayette Business College.
Prior to retiring, she was an accountant for St. Boniface Cemetery and a secretary/bookkeeper for Schroyer Construction, the Women's Clinic and Cassini Tile and Terazzo Co.
She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, St. Boniface Altar Society, Secular Franciscans, Catholic Daughters of America and St. Elizabeth Hospital Auxiliary.
She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, gardening and baking.
Irene is survived by her nephew and niece, R.C. "Skip" and Phyllis Kochert, who were her care providers, and several other nieces and nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Marie Huffman, Luetta Hatke and Anna Grassmyer, and 2 brothers, Albert and Joseph Kochert. Irene enjoyed helping others.
