VELMA IRENE FYOCK REED WOOD
VELMA IRENE FYOCK REED WOOD Velma Irene Fyock Reed Wood, 96, Ottawa, died Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008, at the Ottawa Retirement Village, Ottawa. A celebration of life will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, Ottawa, with the Rev. James Weise and the Rev. Earl Zimmerman officiating.
She was born July 1, 1912, at Wellington to Raymond James and Verna Belle (Haskins) Fyock. She lived there until she was 12 and her family moved to Franklin County in 1926.
She attended Ottawa High School.
She enjoyed flowers, candle making and traveling.
She was a member of the Worthwhile H.D.U. Unit for several years and the Faith Lutheran Church, Ottawa.
She operated the Hickory Inn with her husband for 14 years. She was a homemaker.
She married Allen Reed Jan. 31, 1930, at Lyndon. They shared more than 47 years of marriage. He preceded her in death July 6, 1977. She married Ballard Wood April 22, 1978. They shared more than 26 years of marriage. He preceded her in death June 24, 2004.
Survivors include stepsons, Dale Wood, and his wife, Rose Marie, Butler, Mo., Terry Wood, Chanute, and Stanley Wood, and his wife, Connie, Princeton; stepdaughters, Velma Lohmann, and her husband, Bud, Dewey, Okla., and Linda Ecord, and her husband, Richard, Pomona; son-in-law, Babe Morgan, Portalas, N.M.; six grandchildren; 22 stepgrandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Joan Morgan; a son, Ray Reed; sisters, Viola Crump, Verna Rae Black and Mary Brown; a brother, James Fyock; a stepson, Arlie Wood; and stepgrandsons, Arlie Wood and Roger Wood.
Burial will be at the Princeton Cemetery, Princeton.
