- [S927] Obituary.
Mrs. Emma (SHAFFER) SPEICHER, 72, of Johnstown RD2, died yesterday at her home. Although she had been in poor health for some time, she was not seriously ill until shortly before death. She was the wife of Peter SPEICHER who is the operator of several coal mines on the Solomon Run Road. A daughter of Casper and Elizabeth (MOCK) SHAFFER, she was born May 4, 1870, in Richland Township. She is survived by her husband and these children: Mrs. John E. MILLER; Mrs. Walter FYOCK [Melva Mae]; and Mrs. Herbert RICE, all of Johnstown RD2. One brother, Louis SHAFFER of Quarkertown and one sister, Mrs. Harvey ERB of 1158 Solomon Street, survive. The deceased was a member of the Calvary Evangelical Church. The body will be moved to the Calvary Evangelical Church at 1:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon, where it may be viewed until 2:30 o'clock, when services will be conducted by Rev. John W. Miller, pastor. Interment will take place in Richland Cemetery under the direction of Fred G. Geisel, mortician."
