Squire, Carol Ann (Stebner) 71 Jan. 26, 1944 Oct. 31, 2015 Carol Ann (Stebner) Squire of Beaverton, passed away Halloween evening, Oct. 31, 2015, her favorite holiday, at age 71, after a long battle with cancer. Carol lived a rich life built on the principles of honesty, respect for all people, kindness to all people and on her ability to solve any problem through her exceptional clarity of thought. She touched many lives in a positive way. Carol was born Jan. 26, 1944, in Bismarck, N.D., but grew up in Salem, where she attended Sacred Heart Academy. She graduated from Oregon State University with a degree in medical technology in 1966, and married David Squire that same year. From that marriage came a family of children, Lori Squire, Michelle York and Steven Squire; their spouses, Akshay, Harry and Michele; and grandchildren, Arthur, Galen, Kayden and Asmita. Carol shaped us all into to what we are today. Continuous learning was another of her passions and as a result, Carol had many careers. She was first and foremost the leader of the family but also a medical technologist, a volunteer in the schools and worked at Portland Community College where she was a computer technician and instructor before quickly rising to the position of director of open campus computer education. At the age of 54, she earned a master's degree in applied information management from the University of Oregon. Carol had talents in art, writing and was a skilled pianist. Her love of both listening to and playing music was instilled in the entire family. She was also exceptional at organizing and decluttering rooms and lives, and often helped family and friends simplify their lives. She is also survived by her siblings, Bob Stebner, Linda Ahlers and Rick Stebner and their families. She wished to be remembered as a person who led an honest life. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to one of Carol's favorite charities: The Oregon Food Bank or Heifer International . She was particularly fond of goats and water buffalo.
