Mary Catherine Kappes Rund Birth: Apr. 3, 1870 Indiana, USA Death: Jun. 28, 1911 Pesotum Champaign County Illinois, USA Mary was the oldest of 7 children born to Joseph Kappes and Katherine (Katrina) Kleiss Kappes, the granddaughter of George Kleiss and Dorothea Eckert Kleiss. She married on Nov 11, 1890 in Champaign,Illinois and had 10 children, dying at the age of 41. Her husband remarried but did not have more children. Her sister Rosa Magdalena married William Mathew Rund. (2 sisters married 2 brothers) MRS. RUND DIES SUDDENLY. Expires While Preparing to Arise in Morning. Villa Grove, Ill., June 30.- Mrs. John Rund, residing about five miles northwest of this city, died very suddenly at her home early Wednesday morning. Mrs. Rund, who was a very heavy woman and who weighed about 250 pounds, retired in the best of health Tuesday evening, and arose at 4 o'clock in the morning as usual. She was attacked with a smothering spell and fell over on the bed and died at 4:15. Dr. John Hoffman of Pesotum was summoned by telephone, but when he reached her bedside she had been dead some time. He states her death was the result of heart disease. The funeral took place today from St. Mary's Catholic church in Crittenden. Burial was made in St. Mary's cemetery.
