Friedrich Johann Bender
Birth: Jan. 16, 1838
Velykokomarivka
Odes'ka, Ukraine
Death: Jul. 10, 1908
Hanson County
South Dakota, USA
Friedrich Johann BENDER born 16 January 1838 in Kassel, Glueckstal, Odessa, South Russia, was the son of Martin BENDER and Katharina SCHMIDT.
Friedrich married Katherina WANNER on the 14th of February 1856 in Kassel, Glueckstal, Odessa, South Russia. The couple was blessed with no less than 8 children; Fredrick, Martin, Johann, Karolina, Jacob, Carl, Katharina and Philip.
Friedrich and Katherina BENDER along with their children; Fredrick, Martin, Johann, Karolina, Katharina and Philip, immigrated to America via the Port of Hamburg, Germany aboard the SS "Rugia" and arrived at the Port of New York, New York on the 28th April 1885.
NOTE: Friedrich BENDER's 10 day birth date discrepancy can be attributed to the fact that the Russian Empire did NOT adopt the "Gregorian Calendar" until February 1918. Therefore, prior to this date by utilizing the "Julian Calendar" their entire populace was recording birth, death and marriage dates that were 10 to 13 calendar days earlier than the dates the majority of the world was recording!
