Alden Hetherly, father-in-law of Bronxville Department of Public-Works Commissioner Joseph Palumbo, died Thursday Jan. 6 in Pinellas Park, Fla. where he lived. A former resident of Bronxville and Tuckahoe, he was 88. Born Feb. 17, 1888, he was the oldest member of Tuckahoe Hook & Ladder and Honorary Chief retiring 11 years ago. He was also the first private chauffer in Bronxville and had worked for the second president of the village, Frank R. Chambers, and others. He is survived by a brother Carl, of Pinellas Park. Fla.; two sons, Jack, of Pinellas Park and Alden, of Largo, Fla.; three grandchildren and one granddaughter. He was the husband of the late Mary Oswald Hetherly and the father of the late Raymond J.
