  [S8] Information from an informant - Auskunft eines Informanten - Information d'un informateur. You have my great grandfather as Franz. His birth record is Johannes Francis Greiner. He was born in France so it would be Francis. There is a long story on his arrival. Short of it is he was suppose to get off ship in New York but some how he got off in Baltimore and went straight to Ohio. There were Schneider?s and Burkhardts already there he was a colonel in French army. We assume he snuck off the ship. He knew where he was going. In 1850 he went to Indiana USA to a town Oldenburg and is buried there.
