Harold J. Burkhart, 88, of Syracuse, NY, passed away Tuesday, September 2,
2003, at Menorah Park in DeWitt. He was the son of the late Alexander and Lucy
Burkhart and was the last surviving of six children.
He served in the Army during WWII in the South Pacific. Born in Lewisville, Ohio,
he resided in Canton, Ohio, until moving to Syracuse in 1960. He retired from Carrier
in 1977 after working there for 17 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Solace
Catholic Church for 40 years. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, woodworking, playing cards
and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by: his wife of 58 years, Matilda Kuhn Burkhart; one daughter, Roseann
Boulding of Oakville, Ontario; four sons, David of Winterville, GA, Paul of Overland Park,
KS, Dennis of Hooksett, NH, and Patrick of Fayetteville, NY; eight grandchildren, Mathew,
Lindsay, Timothy, Laura, Glenn, Peter, Katie and Joey; one predeceased granddaughter,
Amanda Boulding; one great-grandson Nicholas.
ervices Friday 10:30 a.m. at Burns-Garfield Funeral Home and 11 a.m. at Our Lady
of Solace Church. Burial, St. Mary's Resurrection Mausoleum. Calling hours 4 to 7 p.m.
Thursday at Burns-Garfield Funeral Home, 3775 E. Genesee St. Contributions may be made
to Our Lady of Solace Church.
