According to the Zanesville Signal (26 Jul 1949), Bermard H. and Florence C. Schumacher purchased 108 acres in Center, Monroe Co., OH.. from Edward J. and Anna Schneider.Bernard H. Schumacher, 78, former Monroe County Commissioner and a resident of 407 Holiday Ave., Woodsfield, died early Thursday morning, at his home. He was born Jan 20, 1913, near Woodsfield, ason of the late Edward L. and Bertha Burkhart Schumacher.In addition to serving as county commissioner, Schumacher served as a Center Township Trustee andwas a member of the GMN Tri-County Board.Schumacher was a self-employed water hauler in Woodsfield, a retired farmer and retired School busdriver for Switzerland of Ohio School District.He was a member of the Holy Name Society, the Knights of Columbus and the St. Sylvester Catholic Church at Woodsfield.Surviving are his wife, Florence C. Kress Schumacher; five daughters, Mrs. John H. (Adeline) Jones of Silver Springs, MD., Mrs. Glenn (Alice) Goddard of Beallsville, Mrs. John A. (Vera) Roth of Woodsfield,Mrs. Bob (Anna) Hupp of Caldwell and Mrs. Ralph E. (Bernice) Baker of Woodsfield; two sisters, Mrs. John (Regina) Smithberger of Summerfield and Adline Schumacher of Woodsfield; 14 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.Friends will be received 4 to 9 Saturday and noon to 9 Sunday at the Watters Funeral Home, Woodsfield.Funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at ll a.m. Monday at St. Sylvester Catholic Church, withMonsignor George Adams as celebrant. Burial follows in St. Sylvester Catholic Church Cemetery.
