From the Zanesville Signal, 24 May 1940:Miss Florence Kress has returned to Marietta after spending a week with her mother, Mrs. Margaret Kress of Woodsfield Route 3.Obit: Source: The Monroe County Beacon, Woodsfield, Ohio, Thurs., Mar. 25, 1999 Florence C. Schumacher, 79, of 105 Gibson St., Woodsfield, died March 18, 1999, at her home. She was born at Miltonsburg, May 13, 1919, a daughter of the late Fredrick and Margaret Bosold Kress.She was a former seamstress at L. G. A. M. Manufacturing in Woodsfield. She was a member of the St. Sylvester Catholic Church, Woodsfield, where she was a member of the Catholic Women's Club, the Purgatorial Society, and the St. Francis Society. She had also been a former 4-H advisor in Monroe County for 30 years and was a 25 year member of the Farm Bureau.Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. James (Adeline) Vallandingham of Port Tobacco, Maryland, Mrs. Glen "Butch" (Alice) Goddard of Beallsville, Ohio, Mrs. John (Vera) Roth of Woodsfield, Mrs. Robert (Anna) Hupp of CaldweIl, Mrs. Ralph E. (Bernice) Baker of Woodsfield; two sisters, Edith Reiscbman of Miltonsburg, Ohio, Alice Buckalew of Woodsfield, a brother, George Kress of Lewisville, Ohio; 20 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.In Addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard H. Schumacher, on November 7,1991; a sister, Marie Cornett; three brothers, Karl Kress, Gilbert Kress and Oscar Kress.Friends were received at the Watters Funeral Home, March 20 and 21. Funeral Liturgy with Mass was celebrated March 22 at St. Sylvester Catholic Church, Woodsfield, with Monsignor Thomas Peironek as the celebrant. Burial followed in the St.. Sylvester Catholic Cemetery, Woodsfield. Vigil services were held March 21 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Sylvester Catholic School, 119 Wayne St., Woodsfield, OH 43793.
