John W. Lumbatis, age 68, of Lewisville, Ohio formerly of Howard, Ohio passed away Tuesday April 12, 2011 at the Ohio Valley Medical Center in Wheeling, West Virginia, surrounded by his family, after a short battle with lung cancer. He was born in Bath, Ohio October 16, 1942 a son of Alice McGarry Lumbatis and the late Willard Earl Lumbatis.
John was a retired mechanic for the Knox County Highway Dept. and was a U.S. Air Force Veteran. He was an employee of the Monroe County Beacon, worked as a driver for the Monroe County Care Center, and was an Oil fieldworker.
In addition to his mother; Alice McGarry Lumbatis of Howard, he is survived by his wife; Carol Garinger Lumbatis of Lewisville who he married in 1962, his children; Richard (Deb) Lumbatis of Nellie, Ohio, Douglas (Marie) Lumbatis of Howard, Mark (Victoria) Lumbatis of Utica, Ohio and Melanie (Danny) Bass of Dayton, Texas, one brother; Edward (Sue) Lumbatis of Wisconsin, 18 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.
Friends received from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Bauer-Turner Funeral Home 100 S. Paul St. Woodsfield, Ohio where services will be held 11 a.m. Friday April 15, 2011 with Gene Lilly officiating. Interment in the Friendship Cemetery in Lewisville, Ohio.
