Lumbatis, age 68, of Lewisville, Ohio formerly of Howard, Ohio passed away Tuesday April 12, 2011 at the Ohio Valley Medical Center in Wheeling, West Virginia, surrounded by his family, after a short battle with lung cancer. He was born in Bath, Ohio October 16, 1942 a son of Alice McGarry Lumbatis and the late Willard Earl Lumbatis. John was a retired mechanic for the Knox County Highway Dept. and was a U.S. Air Force Veteran. He was an employee of the Monroe County Beacon, worked as a driver for the Monroe County Care Center, and was an Oil fieldworker. In addition to his mother; Alice McGarry Lumbatis of Howard, he is survived by his wife; Carol Garinger Lumbatis of Lewisville who he married in 1962, his children; Richard (Deb) Lumbatis of Nellie, Ohio, Douglas (Marie) Lumbatis of Howard, Mark (Victoria) Lumbatis of Utica, Ohio and Melanie (Danny) Bass of Dayton, Texas, one brother; Edward (Sue) Lumbatis of Wisconsin, 18 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. Friends received from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Bauer-Turner Funeral Home 100 S. Paul St. Woodsfield, Ohio where services will be held 11 a.m. Friday April 15, 2011 with Gene Lilly officiating.
