Dauenhauer, 89, of 212 Danbury Drive, Fairmont, died Nov. 16th at his home. A retired farmer, he had worked full time on the family farm since the age of 10, and had continued to farm for the remainder of his working years, milking a herd of Holstein cows. A native of the Syracuse area, he was the son of George and Gretchen (Margaret) Dauenhauer, who emigrated from Germany to settle on a farm on Onondaga Hill. Mr. Dauenhauer was an avid boxer, and was the amateur featherweight boxing champion of Central New York in 1925. He was a communicant of St. Michael's Church.He is survived by four sons, John A. Dauenhauer of Fairmont, Brother Timothy Dauenhauer of St. Patrick's Friary in Buffalo, Michael Dauenhauer of Split Rock, and John French of Syracuse; by two brothers, Leonard and Walter Dauenhauer of Syracuse; by a sister, Amelia Robinson of Onondaga Hill; by 26 grandchildren; by 21 great-grandchildren; and by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were from St. Michael's Church.From the Syracuse Herald Journal Nov. 18. 1992Burial is in Section 32.
