Pulford, Frank J., D. D. S., successful dentist of Opelousas, La., was born
at Opelousas, May 31, 1866, son of George and Eva (Christman) Pulford, the
former of whom was born in England and the latter in Opelousas. The father
was among the early settlers at Opelousas, where he followed the saddlery
business until 1905. He was a Mason of high standing. Frank J. Pulford
was the 3rd of 6 children born to his parents, as follow: George C.,
carpenter, of Opelousas; John, bookkeeper, in the service of a Mississippi
lumber company; Frank J., the subject of this sketch; Minnie, Nettie,
wife of H. O. Fauman, of Opelousas; Asa, wife of M. N. Childs, assistant
cashier of the People's bank, Opelousas. Frank J. Pulford is a graduate of
the Southern Dental college, Atlanta, Ga., class of 1891, and has been in
dental practice at Opelousas since shortly after the time of his
graduation. In 1895 Dr. Pulford was married to Miss Stella Demmick, of
Belleview, La., who died in 1899 after having become the mother of 2
children, 1 of whom died in infancy. The surviving child of this union
--Frank--is at Marion, Ala., at this writing preparing for entrance to the
Government Naval academy at Annapolis in the spring of 1914. In 1901 Dr.
Pulford was married to Miss Bertha Saizan, of Port Barre, La., who died in
1905.
