DALTON -- Elmer C. Smith, 90, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007, at Shady Lawn Nursing Home.
Funeral service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Zak-Monbarren Funeral Home, 29 E. Main St., Dalton with the Rev. Ken Killian officiating. Burial will be in Stanwood Cemetery.
Friends may call Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

Elmer C. Smith was born May 19, 1917, in Lewisville to George and Mary (Young) Smith. He married Zada Snurr on Jan. 6, 1937, who preceded him in death.
He was a retired farmer and had formerly worked for Republic Steel. He attended Stanwood Community Church and enjoyed woodworking and welding.
He is survived by children, Fred (Vi) Smith of Dalton, Jim (Betty) Smith of Brewster, Karen Gryniewski of Orrville and Kenneth (Doris) Smith of Massillon; six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Lyria Kestner.
He was also preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
