Glen Emory Taylor was born June 8, 1918 at Davenport, Nebraska, the son of Lee Taylor and his wife, Edna nee Wiley.
He was called from this life at Lincoln General Hospital Saturday night, May 12, having reached the age of 60 years, 11 months and four days.
Glen was baptized in the Christian faith as an infant. He was confirmed in the faith at Trinity Lutheran, Friedensau in 1952.
On July 4, 1948, he was united in marriage with Mary Ann Weiss at the Friedensau Church. To this union three sons were born.
Glen served his country with the United States Army, entering on July 21, 1942, and received an honorable discharge on October 12,1945.
He farmed in the Carleton and Chester communities until 1963 when he with his family moved to Deshler. In 1967 he began working for the Thayer County Road Department where he was employed until his death.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He leaves to mourn his wife, Mary Ann; three sons. Randy, at home, Dennis of Lincoln, and Bradley and wife Kathy of Geneva; one granddaughter, Shawn, and one grandson, Chad, of Geneva; one sister, Mrs. Willard (Marge) Schwisow of Beatrice; and one brother, Thaine, of Carleton; and many other relatives and friends.
A 2:00 o'clock service was held at Peace Lutheran Church in Deshler on Wednesday afternoon. May 16, with Pastor Delmar Klover officiating. The congregation sang "Abide With Me." Singing a vocal solo was Deb Deepe. Organist was Mrs. Barbara Koester.
The sermon, based on Job 14:14, was entitled "The Most Important Question Ever Asked."
Burial followed in Peace Lutheran Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Clarence McGhghy, Lavern Schoof, Elmer George, Gus Harms, Eldon Fangmeier, and Albert Krause.
Military graveside service was conducted by Halfman Post
352, Deshler.
Ahrendts Funeral Home Associates of Deshler had charge
of arrangements.
