Melvin Carl Neuhart of Hebron, NE the son of William and Marie(Dunker)Neuhart was born on a farm at rural Deshler, NE on September 21, 1915. He departed this life Thursday, December 6, 2012 at the age of 97 years.
Melvin was baptized and confirmed June 1, 1930 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Friedensau, NE. He attended country school at North Prinston rural Deshler and Deshler High School. Melvin worked for the railroad in Idaho and California for 5 years before he entered the U.S. Army Air Corp. during WWII from 1941 to 1946 as a Radar Instructor.
After returning home from the service, Melvin married Ruth Waldmier December 11, 1946 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Friedensau. This union was blessed with the birth of a son Loy Neuhart. Melvin farmed most of his life. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W.. His country was very important to him.
The U.S. Flag was flown over the U.S. Capitol in honor of Melvin's 90th birthday.
Melvin enjoyed playing cards, bingo, wood working, but most of all Melvin enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Ruth, brothers; Alvin, Martin, and Ernest, sisters; Regina Roth, Rosa Weiss and Gertrude Griffith.
He is survived by son Loy Neuhart of Pawnee City, NE, three granddaughters; Amber Hunzeker and husband Eric of Eagle, NE, Christine Light and husband Jason of Baltimore City, KS, and Chastity Schmer of Hastings, NE, great-grandchildren; Kiersten Nun, Mckenna Schmer, Autumn Light and Landry Hunzeker, nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday December 10, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church Friedensau, NE at 10:30 AM, officiant Pastor B.J. Fouts, organist Lois Pohlmann, congregational hymns; ?Amazing Grace?, ?How Great Thou Art?, and ?Abide With Me?. Visitation Sunday 1PM to 7PM at Hebron Memorial Funeral Home. Casket bearers Eugene Griffith, Jim Neuhart, Russ Priefert, Randy Waldmier, honorary casket bearers grandchildren Amber and Eric Hunzeker, Christine and Jason Light, and Chastity Schmer. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military graveside honors by Hebron American Legion Post #180, memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church, condolences can be left at www.krollfh.com Hebron Memorial Funeral Home of Hebron, Nebraska in in charge of arrangements.
