Gertrude Griffith
Funeral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Monday, August 19, 1991 at the Aurora United Methodist Church. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery.
OBITUARY: Gertrude Griffith
Gertrude Emily Griffith, the daughter of William and Mary (Dunker) Neuhart, was born at Deshler, Nebraska, on August 17, 1910, and passed away at Aurora, Nebraska, on August 16, 1991, at the age of 80 years, 11 months, and 29 days.
She grew up near Deshler, and attended Friedensau School, near Deshler. Later she was a nanny and maid for Dr. Reed in Deshler. On May 10, 1932, she was united in marriage to Andrew Griffith at Marysville, Kansas. They farmed near Carleton until 1937, when they moved to a farm north of Aurora. Andrew preceded her in death on June 10, 1983.
Gertie was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church, and was active in her circle, and sang in the choir and Women?s Chorus. She especially enjoyed working in her flower beds, quilting, her Garden Club friends and her church circle membership. She actively participated in Senior Center Activities and the 60 plus Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers, Ernest and Alvin Neuhart, and 2 sisters, Ross Weiss and Regina Roth.
Those who remain to cherish her memory are 2 sons, Albert ?Bill? of Aurora, and Eugene ?Mert? of Marquette; 3 daughters, Genene Willis of Aurora, Barbara Weems of Ord, and Linda Marquardt of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; 2 brothers, Martin Neuhart of Deshler and Melvin Neuhart of Hebron; 16 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
