Otto Barth
Otto Barth, 89, Center, died peacefully at his home on Oct. 12, 2008.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, with Rev. Patrick Schumacher as celebrant. Burial will be at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, south of Mandan, with military honors provided by the VFW Post 707 and the American legion Post 40.

Otto was born Dec. 23, 1918, in Oliver County, the son of Michael and Monica (Dauenhauer) Barth. Enlisting in the U.S. Army, he served in World War II. On Oct. 22, 1946, he married Barbara Dworshak in Fallon.
Otto will be remembered as a hard worker, determined to make it go, no matter what. He lived his life on the farm where he was born and raised, and often said "this is where I will die."
Otto had a vast appreciation for all of nature and its beauty. Going to farm auctions and buying antique tractors was a hobby Otto enjoyed for many years. A generous and caring man with a giving heart, Otto was always willing to help people in need. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Left with many fond memories are two daughters and sons-in-law, Theresa (Palmer) Guttromson, Fargo, and Patty (Tony) Schmalz, Mandan; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Dale Barth and Jim (Deborah) Barth, both of Center; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one brother, George Barth, LaMesa, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1998; his parents; and three sisters, Rose, Monica, and Mathilda.
