- [S927] Obituary.
Indiana Evening Gazette, Indiana, PA, August 7, 1941
Archie Ross Fyock, 64, of Penn Run, died in the Indiana Hospital at 4:50 p.m. yesterday afternoon as a
result of complications following injuries received Saturday night when he was struck by an automobile.
It marked the eighth highway fatality of the year for Indiana County.
He had been admitted to the hospital early Sunday morning suffering from fractures of 11 right ribs, a
fractured right collarbone and body bruises. According to Dr. Edward L. Fleming, county coroner, death
came as a result of pneumonia, which developed from punctured lungs caused by the fractured ribs.
The accident occurred, according to the State Motor Police, as Fyock alighted from a truck parked on
Route 259 near Penn Run. He walked from the rear of the truck into the highway and collided with a car
operated by Clarence B. Gibson, 23, of Starford. Dr. Fleming has indicated that an inquest will not be
necessary.
A fire tower operator near Clymer, the deceased has been a life-long resident of Penn Run. He was born
October 8, 1876, a son of Peter and Elizabeth (Fox) Fyock. He had never married.
He leaves three brothers, M. T. Fyock of Penn Run, Harvey Fyock of Marion Center, and C. W. Fyock of
Penn Run, and a sister, Mrs. Linnie Lydick.
Friends are being received in the Streams Funeral Home, where services will be conducted tomorrow at 2
p.m. (EST). The Rev. Dorsey Roetruck of the Church of the Brethren of Penn Run will officiate. Interment will be in the Brethren Cemetery in Cherry Hill Township
