Mildred D. Smith
Mildred D. (Schott) Smith, age 88, of Canton, passed away on
?Together Again?
Saturday, May 21, 2005 in St. Joseph Care Center, following an extended illness. She was born on October 16, 1916 in Canton to the late Edward and Agnes Schott. Mildred was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church of Canton, the Rosary and Altar Society, St. Paul's Senior Group, and was a founding member of Our Lady of Peace. She was employed as a school cook in Plain Local Schools for 12 years, retiring as head cook from Warstler School. She loved children and enjoyed playing cards. She will always be remembered as a very considerate and easy going person who loved life and her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis B. Smith on June 20, 1999; four sisters, Margaret Rowley, Madeline Lopez, Leona Reeves, and Pauline Casabona; three brothers, Ralph, Paul and Charles Edward Schott. Survivors include her daughter, Virginia (Dale) Klienheksel of Freeman, South Dakota; sons, Eugene (Mary Lou) Smith of Canton, and Otis (Mary) Smith of Red Oak, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday May 26, in St. Paul's Catholic Church of Canton, with the Rev. Fr. Joseph Gleixner, M.S.C. as celebrant. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. on Wednesday in the Reed Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Health Care Center, 2308 Reno Dr. Louisville, OH, 44641.
