- [S927] Obituary.
Betts, Rosa Elizabeth Betts nee Crawford
Monroe County Beacon, Woodsfield, Ohio, dated, 1966
LKP#4
Once again the Grim Reaper Death has entered our midst and taken from us our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, neighbor and friend.
Rosa Elizabeth Betts, daughter of Greenberry, and Barbara (Pfalzgraf) Crawford, was born near Lewisville, Ohio on August 4, 1886, and departed this life Thursday morning 4:15 p.m. June 9, 1966 at Barnesville Hospital at the age of 79 years, ten months, and five days.
She was united in marriage with Frank Betts on March 13, 1906 and to this union ten children were born.
Her husband, Frank and five children, Clarence, George, Vearl, Woodrow and Sara, preceded her in death.
Those left to mourn her sad departure are two sons and three daughters, Elbert, of Lewisville; Mrs. Raymond (Lela) Christman, of Barnesville; Mrs. Ermie (Loiuse) Morris, of Woodsfield; John J., of Mansfield, and Mrs. LaVern (Mary Eva) Christman, of Columbus; one sister, Mrs. Mary Goodhart, of Summerfield; one brother, Thomas Uppole, of Quaker City; sixteen grandchildren, and fourteen great grandchildren, besides a host of other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, one sister and three brothers.
Mrs. Betts was very active until the last six months of her life. All that loving hands and medical skill could do was done but to no avail and God called her home to be with him in the land where is no sorrowing, no suffering or death when the dead in Christ shall arise.
She was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ.
Mrs. Betts was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and neighbor, ever mindful of the needs of others and ever willing to lend a helping hand whenever needed and add a ray of sunshine to make someone?s life brighter and happier for having known her. Thus she will be sadly missed by everyone.
A precious one from us has gone,
A voice we loved is stilled,
A place is vacant in the home
Which never can be filled.
Funeral services were conducted at the Gardner Funeral Home by Rev. George Corbitt on Sunday afternoon, June 12, at 2:00 o?clock. Burial was made in the Calais Cemetery.
