Obituary - The Barnesville Enterprise, January 27, 1983, P. 2, Column 2&3, Section 1: Mancel (Dutch) Hunkler - Mancel (Dutch) Hunkler, 71, Shamrock Dr., Barnesville, died Sunday, January 23, 1983 in Barnesville Hospital. Born December 10, 1911 in Barnesville, he was the son of late John and Mary Diegmiller Hunkler. He was a retired employee of the Ohio Bell Telephone Company, and a member of the Church of the Assumption, Barnesville, Elks Lodge No. 1699, and Pioneers of the Ohio Bell Telephone Company. He was preceded in death by two brothers. Surviving are his wife, Virginia Bailey; a daughter, Mrs. Paul (Betty Kay) Modie, Parkersburg, West Virginia; eight sons, Ronald, Queen Creek, Arizona, John, Bill, Dennis, Tom, Sam and Pat, all of Barnesville, and Terry of Blyth, California; a brother Robert of Barnesville; seventeen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Friends were received at Campbell-Plumly Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial was held Wednesday morning at the Church of the Assumption with Rev. Father Charles Mascolino the celebrant. Burial was made in the Assumption Cemetery, Barnesville. Elks services were held Tuesday followed by Rosary devotions. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Fund or the American Cancer Society.
