Obituary:
Retired Publisher and co-owner of Monroe County Beacon
Wednesday, March 10, 1993, The Times Leader
Elmer Rausch, 82, 400 East Marietta St., Woodsfield, died Monday evening at his
home. He was born December 26, 1910, in Woodsfield, a son of the late Clem J. and
Mary A.Weisend Rausch. He was retired publisher and co-owner of the Monroe County
Beacon. Elmer retired in 1977 as publisher, and co-owner of the Monroe County Beacon
and was the chairman of the board of directors of Citizens National Bank, Woodsfield. He
was a member of the Monroe County Republican Executive Committee and a member of
the St. Sylvester Catholic Church, Woodsfield.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Hilda E. Rausch.
Surviving are his wife, Clara Froehlich Rausch; two daughters Mrs. Paul (Barbara) Conner
of Woodsfield and Mrs. Jack (Rita) Spiers of Pickerington; two grandsons and a granddaughter.
Friends will be received 3:30-9 p.m. today at Bauer-Turner Funeral Home, Woodsfield.
Funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at 11 am. Thursday at St. Sylvester Catholic
Church. Burial follows in St. Sylvester Catholic Church Cemetery, Woodsfield. Vigil services
will be at 8 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Sylvester
School.
