AMBOY ? Frank L. Hazelwonder, 78, of Amboy, died Sunday, April 5, 2009, at his home. He was an assistant plumber for 12 years; and then was employed by Allied Locke Industries, Amboy, for 17 years, before retiring.
Hazelwonder, 78, of Amboy, died Sunday, April 5, 2009, at his home. He was an assistant plumber for 12 years; and then was employed by Allied Locke Industries, Amboy, for 17 years, before retiring. Frank was born Aug. 6, 1930, in Hardin, the son of Frank and Berneice (Grandsinger) Hazelwonder. He served in the Navy during the Korean War. Frank married Betty J. Clayton on Nov. 2, 1972, in Dixon. She preceded him in death. Survivors include five daughters, Kathy (Ed) Blake, Linda (Bill) Oester, Rita Whelchel, and Jan McAnally, all of Amboy, and Sharon (Nick) Baumgartener of Girard; one son, Frank (Shelley) Hazelwonder of Carrollton; one stepson, Daryl ?Chuck? (Marlene) Zimmerly of Amboy; 19 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by one stepson, Ed Zimmerly; one brother; and seven sisters.Special thanks to his home caregivers, Bonnie Hvarre, Angela Lindbloom, Rose Herkert, Judy Hobbs, Chris Oester, Alanna Hiatt, Melody Holcher, and Missy Chism. The funeral is at 11 a.m. Thursday at Mihm-Jones Funeral Home, Amboy, with the Rev. Frank Brozenec, pastor of East Grove Union Church, Amboy, officiating.Burial, with military honors by the Amboy American Legion, is at St. Patrick Cemetery, Amboy. Edward L. Zimmerly BY STAFF Nov. 1 - Edward L. Zimmerly, 58, of Dixon, formerly of Amboy, died Oct. 29, 2006 at his home. Funeral services will begin with a 10:30 a.m. prayer service at the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home on Thursday, Nov. 2 followed by a 11 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Amboy with Rev. Carl Beekman, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at St. Patrick Cemetery, Amboy with military rites by the Amboy American Legion. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Mr. Zimmerly was born Jan. 18, 1948 in Amboy to Leo and Francis (Johnson) Zimmerly. Survivors include one son, Cory (Joanie) Zimmerly of Amboy; two grandchildren, Hunter and Haidyn; one brother, Daryl Vaughan ?Chuck? (Marlene) Zimmerly of Amboy; step sisters, Rita Whelchel, Jan McAnally, Kathy (Ed) Blake and Linda (Bill) Oester, all of Amboy; and his longtime friend, Justine Albee. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Zimmerly was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam where he received the Purple Heart Medal.
