AMBOY ? Frank L. Hazelwonder, 78, of Amboy, died Sunday, April 5, 2009, at his home. He was an assistant plumber for 12 years; and then was employed by Allied Locke Industries, Amboy, for 17 years, before retiring.
Hazelwonder, 78, of Amboy, died Sunday, April 5, 2009, at his home. He was an assistant plumber for 12 years; and then was employed by Allied Locke Industries, Amboy, for 17 years, before retiring.Frank was born Aug. 6, 1930, in Hardin, the son of Frank and Berneice (Grandsinger) Hazelwonder. He served in the Navy during the Korean War.Frank married Betty J. Clayton on Nov. 2, 1972, in Dixon. She preceded him in death.Survivors include five daughters, Kathy (Ed) Blake, Linda (Bill) Oester, Rita Whelchel, and Jan McAnally, all of Amboy, and Sharon (Nick) Baumgartener of Girard; one son, Frank (Shelley) Hazelwonder of Carrollton; one stepson, Daryl ?Chuck? (Marlene) Zimmerly of Amboy; 19 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.He also was preceded in death by one stepson, Ed Zimmerly; one brother; and seven sisters.Special thanks to his home caregivers, Bonnie Hvarre, Angela Lindbloom, Rose Herkert, Judy Hobbs, Chris Oester, Alanna Hiatt, Melody Holcher, and Missy Chism.The funeral is at 11 a.m. Thursday at Mihm-Jones Funeral Home, Amboy, with the Rev. Frank Brozenec, pastor of East Grove Union Church, Amboy, officiating.Burial, with military honors by the Amboy American Legion, is at St. Patrick Cemetery, Amboy.
